CHRISTCHURCH.
Tuesday. The sites for three booths at the cricket match, Australia t. Cantjrbury, were sold today for £124. The betting here is Htrotigly in favour of the Australians. Sweete, one of the best bowlers, is absent, and it is doubtful it Frith will be able to play. The action of the selection committee in.decidinfc, in the face of this, to play only-fifteen men, is strongly condemned.
In the Supreme Court to-day, Mary Todd applied for a judicial separation from "Wm. Todd, fanuer of Geraldine. The evidence showed lhat the respondent, who was imprisoned some time ago at Timaru for cruelty to his daughter, had grossly ill used the petitioner by kicking and striking her with a stockwhip and knocking her down, and on one occasion holding her head to the fire till half her hair was burnt off. The application was granted.
