TAURANGA.

Friday. The Bay of Plenty Times' Opotiki correspondent telegraphs a great flood at Opotiki. The smaller bridge on the west side of the Waioeka River was washed clean away, and the large bridge across the Waioeka River has had the western abutment carried away. The approaches to both bridges are blocked up by driftwood, the smaller bridge completely swinging round, and holding by only one pile. The water is up to the floor of the' large bridge. The height above the ordinary water level is fourteen feet. It is raining still heavily, and the rivers are rapidly rising. The town is flooded, and further serious damage is anticipated.
