Thames Choral Society's Concert.

A concert was. given by this society in the Good Templars* Hall, Eolleston street, last night. The Hall was densely crowded, and the heat rather too great to be pleasant. The first part consisted of some'judicious selections from the oratorio " Judas Maccaboeus " which were very nicely rendered^; esjiecially the duet " Come ever Smiling Liberty" by Mrs Payne and Miss Hunter. To Mrs Payne also is due more than a passing tribute of praise, as we understand she only studied her part at the eleventh hour, having kindly consented >■ to fill the 'place of another. The second part was commenced by a duet oh the piano, followed by the part-song "Ye Banks and Braes;" Mr Targett sang " Happy Moments" and was encored,' as was Miss Hunter, whose second song was more particularly pleasing. The duet " All's Well "by Messrs Targett and Vowles, a song by Mrs Kilgour, and the " Flying Dutchman " by Mr Payne,, "were all encored. The chorus ".March of the Men of Harlech" and "God Save the Queen " brought a very pleasant evening's entertainment to a conclusion in nice time.
