Extension of the Bright Smile Difficulty.
In addition to the- mines already affected; by the stoppage of the Bright Smile Pumps, the Crown Princess is now involved in the unprofitable task of dealing with water in their .bottom level. The shaft is down some 330 feet, allowing ,10 feet.for a well hole. T,he water for the pas^week has been gradually, filling, up the well, and on - Saturday was fairly on the flat sheets of: thejworking chamber. As there had been a large fall of rain, it. was hoped that'the presence of water was owing to this cause, and an attempt to bale it out was made, which for the moment reduced it to the well level. The water has, however, asserted its power, and is now about eight inches in the chamber. The height of water so nearly corresponds with that' in the Queen of Beauty that no doubt can exist as to the cause of, the inflow. The distance be-: tween the shafts is about 1000 feet, and. the levels are nearly«qual. . •■ i>,
