TAIRUA.
The second return from the company's small mill is to hand, and the yield of 46 ounces 3 dwts melted gold fr&m 24 tons stone, has been altogether too small a quantity to meet expectations. As to the capability of their crushing power to deal with the large quantity of payable stone at command, the present tonnage has been a fortnight in passing through the mill. Many reasons can be assigned for this, the principal one being deficiency of water as driving power. It is evident that small returns can only be expected from crippled resources, and should urge the necessity of pushing forward the company's new mill without the least delay. The small engine to act as supplementary to their present four stamper mill was forwarded yesterday.
