TRADE FRAUDS.

We are making progress in the investigation of: trade fraud?. Gar analyst has has been kept busy during the past two weeks. ■»'Scores of samples have b^en analyzed, and nearly all the results are before us. Three of fhe samples of ■whisky were found .so immediately dangerous to health, if not to life itself; that bur; counsel has prepared complaints under the law, and during the course of this morning we hope the necessary warrants will be served; These samples were bought from retailers. The evidence has been placed before five of our very best lawyers, and they all declare that it is ample for a conviction. We shall see. Surely when it is proved by the ablest analysts, chemists, arid medical experts that the stuff contains an amount of sulphuric acid destructive of health, and dangerous to life, a conviction will follow. Jit is electioneering'times, we know, yet every citizen who does" not want to be poisoned will take, special interest in the : proceedings. It may .perhaps not be generally known that sulphuric acid eats into the lining'of the stomach,-ulcerates it, and induces an intense desire for more drink, soon destroying health, and finally causing death. The law rightly provides against such dire evils. This community will wait with impatience to see if the law can be made operative. It will not be our fault if it is not.—S. F. Newsletter. ,
