Tuesday. Mr Acland moved, " That it is desirable, in order that the Statute Book may not be encumbered with Acts of purely local importance, that such Acts should be entered in a separate collection termed ' local and personal,' as is the case with such Acts when passed by the Imperial Parliament; that the Government be requested to take this matter into consideration before the next meeting of Parliament." —Carried.
A Select Committee was appointed to inquire into and report upon the past administration and present position of the Te Aute College estate, and also the reserve in the Poverty Bay district. The Electric Telegraph Bill was slightly amended in Committee.
The Oarnaru Gasworks Bill passed through Committee.
Ann Hood Grant Bill passed. Mr Waterhouse gave notice to introduce a bill respecting the Waiohine River, Grey town.
