August 24. Madame Histori's season terminated last evening at the Exhibition Building, which was crowded.

Commodore Goodenough's funeral this afternoon was largely attended. Principal citizens were present, and a number of Volunteers. Government offices closed out of respect to his memory. Arrived: At Newcastle, Queen of South; s-Union, from Auckland; and Hannibal, from Wellington. Sailed: Sea Spray, for Ly ttelton; ■ Witch of the Wave, for Auckland; and Haversham, for Wellington. v Arrived at Sydney—-MacGregor, Saturday, 1 a.m,; Tokatea, from Takau. The Standing Orders Committee have reported that the Assembly has no power to punish for breach of privilege or to summon witnesses to the bar of the House. They recommend the introduction of a bill to increase the powers of the Assembly.
