Defaulters Imprisoned.
The Thames Threatened.
The first cases of imprisonment' for non-paymeni of Education rates have.occurred. Two persons able to pay, who refused and sold off things, were sent to gaol yesterday. Warrants hare been issued for five more at the Thames.

A large meeting at Wairoa last night, unanimously approved of the Government measures for immediate abolition ; and considered local administration and a central legislature would prove a great benefit to the Colony particularly the outlyiDg districts.
