ACADEMY OF MUSIC.

Mr and Mrs George Case gave an entirely new programme last night, the first portion of -which, was an entertainment Written for: them by Mr Edmund: Yates, entitled " The Man in Possession." This entertainment is excellently carried but by Mr and Mrs Case, and is replete with, characters! of pronorice types, to all of which Mrs Case does ample justice/ In witnessing an entertainment of this kind one cannot but be struck with the very great powers , displayed ,by Mrs Case. 'She is brimful of spirits.'and pos^ sesses a wonderful power,of adapting herself to th 6* requirements of the most diverse characters. One time it, a heavy swell; then a female of strong-minded idea ; a waiting maid, or a sleepy-headed boots. AH are well done, from the lisping swell to the country clown, and the accompanying songs and dances are executed with perfect voice ; and action. Miss Egerton's imitations of Sims Reeves are admitted to be exceedingly clever. She posesses a great power over her voice and her make up :is perfect; ■ Mrs Case, besides filling in the parls to make the entertainment complete, treats the audience to exquisite performances on the violin and concertina;, and his i variations of Scotch'airs on the latter instrument, with imitation of the pipes, is really deserving of all praise. His solos on the violin are equal to .many of tb.e professionals who 1 fhave preceded him with much more pretentious reputations. It was announced last night that the Cases' would extend their' stay until Friday night, giving new features each night. The announcement was received with pleasure by the audience, a numerous and fashionable one, and we have no cloubt that during the remainder of their stay Mr and Mrs Case will have reason to congratulate themselves on their visit to the Thames.
