ALBION COMPANY.
There is cheering news from this mine. In a prerious "number I noticed the direction in which operations were being directed, and to-day I learn that a considerable improvement is observable in the' Young American reef as the .winze goes down. - A really beautiful stone— ! almost pure cilica—was obtained in the ! bottom yesterday, and is rich with gold, not-flaky, but disseminated through the' stone like an integral component. ' This was ascertained by breaking it into halves, when the heart was found to be richer than the outside.- The lode is from fifteen inches to two feet in -thickness, running' through very good country, and promises well. It may be stated, in explanation of the poor return -obtained from the 12 tons crushed from this reef, th.it the dirt was obtained from a much higher level than that at which, the stone was obtained from yesterday ; and was, moreover accompanied by a considerable amount of clay mullock.
