This day,
David Stewart Lyell, late Marton agent of tho Bank of New Zealand, pleaded guilty to seven charges of embezzlement, and was sentenced to six years' penal servitude. The judge expressed the hope that b fore the term expired "the hw would be more appropriate. John Ireland, for forging and uttering at Palmerston, was sentenced to four years.
