The Goldfield to foe Proclaimed on Wednesday next.

SIZE OF CLAIMS &c.

We have the following telegram from James Mackay* junior, Esq.:—, Auckland, Saturday, 5.10 p.m. The Goldfield will be proclaimed at 10 a.m. on Wednesday next, the 3rd. March. : Between Monday and Wednesday applications will be received at Ohinemuri for Miners' Rights, and the money received for the same by myself, the Warden, or other Goldfields officers. Tfoe rights will be made out on Tuesday evening, and issued simultaneously with the Proclamation on Wednesday morning. . v Person s who do not apply will have to take their chance on Wednesday, and will have to wait while the documents are being filled up. Claims are divided into four heads, as follow:— Ist. Shallow alluvial. ..One man's ground 2500 square feet. Largest ; area allowed, six men's ground. 2nd.—Quartz mining claims. Area one man's ground, 15,000 square feet. Largest area allowed, ten men's ground. • ; 3rd.—Deep alluvial. One man's ground, 3600 square feet. Largest area allowed, six men's ground. ; Money is still being paid 10 the Natives for land. It is reported that Mr Craig has purchased a block adjoining Austin's Hotel, consisting of'7o acres.

4th.—River find Creek Claims. —One man's ground, 50 feet allowed on tho course of the stream and width of the river bed. If the river bed is under 60 feet wide, fifteen feet of each bank allowed.
