RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT
THIS DAY. (Before W. Fbaseb, Esq., 8.M.) ; DBUNKENNESS. Edward Cams was charged with having been drunk and incapable in Pollen street. Defendant pleaded guilty, and; was fined 10s, or 24 hours' imprisonment. AN EVIL TONGUE. Edward Cams was also charged with having made use of profane language in a public place, to wit, in Pollen street. Defendant said he knew nothing about it.
Mr Bullen informed the Court that he gave orders to have the defendant taken into custody yesterday morning, as he was using very profane language in. Pollen street, apparently for his own amusement. In answer to His Worship, Mr Bullen stated there was po previous conviction against the man. His Worship told defendant he was liable to three months' imprisonment; but as he had been on the field so long and had never before been before the Court, he would take a liberal view of the case, and only fine him 203, with the alternative of undergoing 7 days' imprisonment. ; :::..: ;: f music and dancing. ■ .••'; ■• ■;-''": : An application was made by James Devon to have music and dancing in the Empire Hotel, this evening. The application was granted subject to the usual conditions.
The Court then adjourned.
