The Cospatrick.
This fine ship, of the burning of which particulars are given elsewhere, was bringing out a number of assisted immigrants to Auckland and a large general cargo. As far as we can learn a number of families resident on the Thames had relatives on board. One lady has lost mother, brothers and sisters—nearly every blood relation she possessed, Others have lost one or more relatives ; so that the fearful disaster has had an effect on this community little short of that created by such, an event as the bursting of the Kuranui boiler. These same persons experienced a tad disappointment last week, the Cospatrick having been reported as arrived. The arrival turned out to be the Glenlora. Now, the fearful news received is something more than a disappointment. To those who have lost relatives it is a shock that will not be forgotten during life. Below we give particulars of cargo and immigrants by the Cospatrick; the nationality of the immigrants being divided as follows:— English, 247; Scotch, 42; Irish, 109; Welsh, 13; Channel Islanders, 10; French, 7; Swiss, 1; total, 429 souls; equal to 3J>7£ statute adults :—
