The Cup : 200 soys. two miles; three entries. From the start Guy Fawkes and Premier cut out the running. Tambourini a long distance behind, going easy. This position was kept for three parts of the race, when Premier began cutting down Guy Fawkes and took the lead. Tambourini then began to gallop very strong and soon overhauled the othor two, and took the lead from Premier, who appeared to have thoroughly beaten Guy Fawkes, and won easily hands down. Time, 4 mins, 5 sees. Weather magnificent. Immense crowd of people. - This day. The races commenced yesterday. A steady heavy rain 'ell at early hour this morning, and kept increasing till, at 11.30 a.m., it changed into a southerly bluster. Very few people at the races. About the time to ring first bell, four Stewards met and agreed to postpone the races till 12 to-morrow. Intense dissatisfaction felt amongst the people, who hooted the Stewards. Still raining, and sky much overcast.
