THIS i>AY. ("Before W. ITkaseb, Esq., K.M.) DRUNKENNESS. William Davis was charged with having been drunk when appearing before the Resident Magistrate in the ease of Davis v. Davis. Defendant was discharged. William Donlan was convicted of having been drunk and incapable in Pollen street. Shortland, on the 28th instant, and was fined 10s, or 24 Lours' imprisonment. ALLEGED LAKCENY. Mary Ann Costello and Margaret Car-.' roll, alias Long, were charged with that they did on the 28th instant, from the store of James Patterson, situate on the Beach Road, Grahamstown, feloniously steal take and carry away two- shoe brushes of the value of 2s, the property of James Patterson. Defendantsbothpleadedguilty,and were sentenced each to one month's imprisonment with hard labor. ABUSIVE LANGUAGE. Wm. Davis was charged on remand from the 28th "instant with halving used towards Bridget Davis (his wife) threatening and abusive language; Mr Macdonald appeared for plaintiff, and stated that some understanding had been come to between the defendant and his wife. He agreed to be bound over to keep the peace. It app?ared that these differences arose from drink, and defendant purposed joining the Templars. His Worship asked if there was anybody in Court in connection with the Templars,who could do the office of swearing them in. It was discovered that there was a brother handy, and defendant was then bound over in his own recognisances of £50 to keep the peace towards his wife for six months. A STKAY HOKS3J. John- Gofldicutt \ was. fined 2s 6d and costs, for having committed a breach of the Borough Bye-law by allowing one horse to be at large in Mackay-street. The Court then adjourned.
