THE CALEDONIAN.
There was a slight move in the share market this morning intheCaledonian scrip. I went to the;mine, but unfortunatei^did not see'tho manager. One of the bow^s informed me that durin/r the night the men working in the three hundred and sixty :feet level, brought some gold-bearing stone to surface, which was handed to/the manager. The stone was taken from the newly discovered reef in the drive going I' east, or towards the Manukau and Cure i boundaries, and about one hundred and fifty feet from the Caledonian main shaft chamber. I saw the stuff being sent up from this lode, it certainly is very much in appearance like that of the Manukau, greyish, and full of minerals. I was told by the boss that four specimen stones hal been handed to the manager, if it had. been only one from the three hundred and sixty feet level, it is a most significant sign as to the Thames gold running
deep, and must tell most favourably on the district.
