Jh. yesterday's issue of Jhe Star it was noticed that the contractor; was about to commence sinking in,the Big Pump Shaft with the 12 inch lift. The lift, has been tried, and at present answers all requirements, and performs the-duties expected of it well. How it will answer if the ground becomes more broken and rocky,^emains to be Been.
