THE CITY OF LONDON.

The new reef, as it is called, cut some little time since, is being worked about 23 feet from the City of York < boundary. Driving has been carried on to the westward, the reef being now 3 feet 6 inches wide, the lode looking well as a goldbearer. The reef that has been driven on for 300 feet, is now within 8 feet of the City of York lines, and as it near* what is expected to be the junction is of great thickness. The appearance of the country now being gone through, would lead one to believe that this junction is not far off, but whether it is in the City of York or London has to be proved, but there are such appearances in the London ground that would lead one to suppose that it will take place in that company's ground; There are about 30 tons of stone in the hopper, which will be at once sent to mill from the new reef. Should it prove payable which it will do at less than 15dwtijj. to the ton, the mine will be,a splendid prd-. perty. The return will be looked for with much anxiety by the City of London shareholders, and also by those of the City of York. The battery was started on thjs stuff last night, and but few hours' rtfn can possibly have taken place ; butfHf possible the approximate result will be given this evening. . . ; .
