DOGS DRUGGED

Gang Makes Big Haul (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 18. By nobbling all but one dog in a race with fish impregnated with a drug known as Chloretone, a swindling gang on December 8 cleared up £109,000 on a greyhound race at White City Stadium, says the “Daily Mail." A member of the gang secreted himself behind the hay kennel and waited until an earlier race was being run and attention was concentrated on the competitions. He then nipped out and gave the fish to the dogs kenneled for the last race. Bookmakers throughout England were astounded at the rush of money for the unknown dog, named Baldtruth, which was the only unharmed entrant for the last race. Baldtruth won by 15 lengths. Chloretone does not show effect until the dogs are excited from chasing the hare.
