SWIMMING SOUTH END CARNIVAL
Promising Times Recorded There was evidence of a revival in swimming at the first Inter-club carnival of the season sponsored by the South End Club in the Century baths last evening. Not only were the entiles more numerous that they were during th- war years, but the times
were also considerably better. In spite of the “nip” in the air which was not conducive to fast times, the 220 yards freestyle was won by C. Knox m 3 minutes, being 12 seconds better than the championship time last year. J- Day, who is an intermediate, was second and returned the fast time of 3min 7sec. The men’s senior 50 yards freestyle necessitated four heats and provided keen competition. In the senior men’s dive there were some outstanding performances, particularly from the high board, from which a number of fancy dives were neatiy performed. An efficient band of officials under the president >(Mr H. Cornwell) ensured the srpooth running of the programme. Results.— 50 Yards Senior Men. —First heat: B. Foster (3seci 1, R.
