Awards At Girls’ High School The annual contests for the Seven Talbot Sisters’ Reading Cup and the speech contest for Mr A. L. Gee’s Te Karero Cup were held recently at the Timaru Girls’ High School. In the former contest the eight finalists were judged by Mrs D. S. Kemshed. who recalled for further testing Sophia Walsh, Beverley Crozier and Rosemary Callander. The cup was finally won by Beverley Crozier. The judge for the speech competition, Miss A. K. Elliot, found the contestants evenly matched. The cup was awarded to Beverley Hunt, who had chosen as her subject “The new order in city life.”
