COAL STOCKS LOW
Newcastle Ships Idle <8.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 2. With coal stocks low everywhere, 16 ships are held up in Newcastle, including some employed in carrying urgently needed coa’ to other States. Newcastle harbour was completely inactive to-day. About 13.000 persons are idle to-day because of ,disputes including coal t seven mines are idle), the Port Kembla ironworkers. commercial printers, wharf labourers, and Bunnerong Powerhouse. Five city zones were blacked out this morning lor an hour or more as the result of the Bunnerong strike, which is now in its 30th day.
