A motion of sympathy with Mi- W. J. Hogg in his illness was passed by the Timaru Horticultural Society at their meeting last evening. The National Bank of New Zealand has been advised by its head office, London, that the resignation of Mr J. H. Lawrie has been accepted with regret on his appointment as general manager of the Industrial and Commercial Finance Corporation. Mr C. P. Salmon has been appointed secretary and the London manager, Mr G. L. Davies, assistant manager of the bank.—P.A At the annual meeting of the Timaru Technical College Board of Managers, a motion of sympathy was extended to Mrs P. R. Talbot, wife of the chairman, in the loss of her mother.
