GERALDINE SALE OF BADGES
Distributed To Children Patriotic Fund Benefits More than £6O was raised m Geraldine for the patriotic funds by the sale of Churchill badges during the peace celebrations. The R.S.A. raised more | than £24 by the sale of badges at the j community sing on Wednesday evening and the balance was raised by the women members of the patriotic committee. assisted by a willing band of helpers at the victory carnival. Appreciation has been expressed that the children were presented with a Churchill badge. The Patriotic Committee made these badges available to the Celebrations Committee at cost. Mr P. G. Withers, honorary secretary of the Patriotic (Zone) Committee, said that although the demands on funds would now be less heavy as the men and women of the services returned, nevertheless, there would still be thousands of men overseas for many months to come. . The provision of a substantial sum for post-war service relief was now the aim of all patriotic committees and it was anticipated that the public would respond to this effort as in the past.
