MALE NURSES
Provision For Registration (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 27. The law relating to the registration and training of nurses and midwives is consolidated by the Nurses and Midwives Bill which was introduced and read the first time in the House of Representatives to-day. Tlie Minister of Health (the Hon. A H. Nordmeyer) explained that the Bill also provided for the training and registration of male nurses. This was the main amendment to the existing law. Clauses dealing with male nurses state that a register shall be kept of male nurses, and that the Nurses and Midwives’ Board may approve as a training school for male nurses any hospital or institution controlled by a State Department or by any hospital board or charitable institution. The qualifications required for the registration of male nurses are set out in the Bill.
