PLEASANT POINT
Missionary Meeting The annual meeting of the Pleasant Point, branch of the Presbyterian Women's Missionary Union was held in St. John's schoolroom on Wednesday. The annual report, presented by Mrs D. Skinner, who moved its adoption, showed that excellent work had been done during the year. Although the membership was only 32, a sum approximating £5O had been raised by a sale of work, a bring and buy stall, and the Busy Bees. The thanks and appreciation of members were extended to Mrs S. Bishop for her work as secretary, Mrs S. Baxter and Mrs F. Pagan, in charge of the soldiers’ parcels, and Mesdames J. Brown. A. Longman and D. Norrish for their work with the Busy Bees. Mrs F. Paean reported that 27 parcels and 20 cakes had been sent overseas to members of the congregation. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President. Mrs N. E. Oakley; vice-presidents. Mrs D. Skinner and Mrs R. Crombie; secretary. Mrs A. Davison; treasurer. Mrs L. A. Bishop: hostess convener. Mrs W. Brien; correspondence secretary. Mrs J. Smith; M.M.B.L. secretary. Miss H. Bishop; harvest field secretary, Mrs D. Skinner; Busy Bees leader. Mrs H. Marshall; soldiers' parcels. Mrs F. Pagan and Mrs H. Marshall. Mrs Oakley gave an address on "The Debt of the Church to its Womenfolk.” especially emphasising the missionary aspect.
