Wahines’ Night The South Canterbury Savage Club’s Wahines' night, which was held in the Bay Tearooms last night, was an outstanding success. The accommodation of the hall was taxed, and in addition to a most enjoyable programme. dancing was enjoyed. Wahines and visitors were welcomed by Great Chief R. N. Downes, who was inducted by Ex-Great Chief V. H. Keay. The Great Chief also welcomed Great Chief H. Morland (Waimate) and Great Chief A. McLaughlin (Christchurch) who deputised for Colonel A. E. Loach, secretary of the New Zealand Kindred Clubs' Association. Colonel Loach is an inmate of Lewisham Hospital, and last night was the first Wahines' night in Timaru he has missed for 20 years. Greetings and best wishes to the Christchurch club were extended by the Great Chief, and they were acknowledged and reciprocated by Great Chief McLaughlin.
