SERVICEMEN’S PAY
Sir, —For the information of “23rd Battalion, Second N.Z.E.F.” and other returned servicemen who will receive little or no benefit from the extra 1/a day if it is to be payable only as from June last, I would state that the South Canterbury Returned Services’ Association In March lodged a protest against the Increase not being made retrospective to the commencement of the war. Similar action was taken shortly afterwards by a conference of the combined Executives of the South Canterbury, Waimate, Temuka. and Geraldine Returned Services’ Associations. These Associations, and many others throughout the Dominion, have forwarded remits on the lines abovementioned for discussion at the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association conference commencing in Wellington on June 19. I am. etc., ALEX. BELL. President, R.S.A.
