Women’s Institute Mrs D. Black presided at the May meeting of the Fairview Women's Institute, and welcomed members and friends. Sympathy was extended to Mrs Jackson, who has suffered a bereavement. It was decided to advise Dominion headquarters that no change in the publication of the Institute journal was considered desirable during the war A wreath was placed at the school gates on Anzac Day. ■ Mrs Vincent and Mrs Black volunteered to send the soldiers' parcels this month. The wandering shilling was won by Miss J. Robinson. The latter part of the afternoon was given to entertaining next-of-kin. each being presented with a floral spray. Solos were contributed by Miss J. Dale. “Songs in Character,” played by Women's Institute members, were followed by community singing. Miss J. Dale was in charge of the “Soldiers’ Corner” and had many beautiful articles on display from overseas lent by the members.
