CHANGEABLE The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation Pressure is very low to the southeast of the Dominion. COLD AND WINDY In spite of bright sunshine in the afternoon, a cold south-west wind prevailed yesterday. Following are tne records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day. which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 51.2. Minimum temperature: 26.6. Frost: 5.4 degrees. Wind: 5.5.W.4. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year; 17.33in5. Rainfall to date last year: 11.85 ins. Sunshine: 4.6 hours. Sunshine to date this year: 685.4hr5. Sunshine to date last year: 668.6hr5. IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka.— Yesterday was fine with a south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 55 degrees and the minimum 28. The glass was rising last evening. Four degrees of frost Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday) Barometer, 28.9, thermometer, maximum, 56.5, minimum, 36.5; frost, 4 degrees; rain 8 points; bright sunshine. 4 hours. 30 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 93. Yesterday was showery with a cold southerly wind blowing.
