Poppy Day
A generous resnonse was made by the public of Temuka and surrounding districts to the Popov Day appeal, the record sum of £llO/2/6 being realised. In commenting upon the result, the secretary of the Temuka R.S.A. (Mr G. A. Harris) expressed warm appreciation of the response made to the appeal. “The money collected,” he said, “is used to help necessitous cases amongst returned soldiers and to provide labour for digging gardens for war widows and women whose husbands are serving overseas.”
Methodist Guild Mrs E. Lee presided at the monthly meeting of the Methodist Guild. A cordial welcome was extended to the Rev. J. H. Woolford and Mrs Woolford, and arrangements were made for a social afternoon to be held next month. One new member was welcomed. Golf The draw for a Stableford Bogey to be played to-morrow is: Miss McLeod and Mrs Mclnnes. Miss Hanifin and Miss Ferguson. Joynt and Miss Vincent. Miss King and Mrs McGregor. Personal Word has been received by Mr and Mrs A. D. Cameron. King Street, that their son. Corporal M. A. Cameron, who has been a prisoner of war in Stalag BA. Germany, is safe in England.
