BUTCHERS ON STRIKE

Freezing Works Idle (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 31. The Wellington Meat Export Company’s works at Ngahauranga are idle as 'the result of a strike yesterday among the butchers on the chains, involving other departments. Between 400 and 500 men are concerned. The dispute is stated to be over a request by the pelters. of whom there are four on each of the main killing chains, for another pelter on each chain, this man to be paid at the company”s expense and not out of the chain pool.
