GERALDINE BIG DEMAND FOR LABOUR
Harvest Work In Full Swing Camp Established At Orari
The camp at Orari racecourse for Army harvest labour is being freely availed by the farming community, and yesterday all the available men were employed. The officer in charge of the camp (Lieutenant H. R. Black) mentioned that he had received numerous applications from .farmers for men to assist with harvest operations. The Patriotic Committee has arranged for a wireless set to be installed in the camp for the convenience of the men. Health Camp Closes The health camp that has been established at the secondary school in Raukapuka, Geraldine, since January 4 was closed yesterday morning when the children returned to their homes. During the time they have been in camp the health of all the children has been satisfactory and practically everyone of' them has sown an increase in weight. The average gain in the three weeks has been 31b. although there have been individual gains of up to 61b, and in one case of 81b. The camp has been visited by officers of the Health Department at various times, who have expressed their pleasure at the marked improvement in the general health of the inmates. Personal The Rev. E. R. E. Ross, who has been spending his vacation at Waikouaiti, returned to Geraldine yesterday. The Rev. C. McGaskell, of Waikouaiti, who has occupied the pulnit of the Geraldine Presbyterian Church during Mr Ross's absence, returned home yesterday. Mr E. Undrill has returned from a holiday spent at Tekapo.
