PROFESSIONAL BOUT The professional welter-weight boxing contest between Doug Eddington and Ken Wright in the Theatre Royal on Monday, October 16, promises a close decision. Eddington holds a win on i points over Wright, but since then both have mixed it with the best Service brxers overseas and no doubt have imnroved their knowledge and technique. Eddington won 19 consecutive bouts in the Islands, but was beaten in the final of the Island champ’cnship by a negro. Ray Reynolds, who holds a high ranking. In 18 professional fights in New Zealand Eddington beat C. Raynor, former light-weight champion. Stan Smith, and N. Jenkins, the latter four out of five bouts. During three years io the Middle East, Wright beat Watty Jack (Southl- 'd) in a bout described by Brigadier Burrows as one of the best he had ever seen; beat Blue.v Shoebridge, Australian Expeditionary Force middleweight champion; won by a technical knock-out over “Nugget”’ Jackson, of the Coldstream Guards; lost the final of the middle-weight championshin to Don Jackson before going to Crete (Jackson had a decision over Vic Calteau); beaten in final of light-heavy-weight chaninionsbio fought in a temoerature of 118 degrees; beat L lwards, R.A.F. middle-wei-ht champion, Ali Hassan, nolice middle-weight champion, and Solid Raymad. Egyptian ufiversitv chamnion. Part of the proceeds will go to the Patriotic Fund. ...
