ADVANCE ON TIDDIM
Japanese Blocking Tracks (11.55 pan.) KANDY, Oct. 3. Troops of the 14th Army are In touch with the enemy on a number of tracks which converge on Tiddim, states a South-east Asia communique. On one of these tracks, a village to the east of Tiddim has been cleared, and other outflanking movements have brought our forces within two miles of Tiddim and Fort White road, the enemv's main exit from the Chin Hills. The correspondent of the Associated Press savs the Japanese have diverted forces to block many of the tracks converging on Tiddim. Few loopholes have been left uncovered. Whenever our troops use these tracks as side doors they encounter strongly defended outposts.
