Philippines
(Rec. 11.30). NEW YORK, Oct. 3. The Manila radio announced that the Philippine Government has been reduced to a mere skeleton force due to the present emergency. Laurel. “President” of the Puppet Government, has decreed a reduction In the personnel of provincial, city and municipal governments, and Govern-ment-owned or controlled corporations. The Associated Press says this action may be a Japanese-sponsored move to free Government employees for more direct war work.
