POLES SURRENDER
Struggle To Hold Warsaw (9.0 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 3. The Moscow radio announced that the Polish patriots inside Warsaw have surrendered. The Polish Committee of National Liberation announced that Colonel Monter, who is described as the commander of the Home Army in Warsaw, in the name of General Eors, who allegedly has not been in Warsaw at any time since the rising, decided to capitulate to the Germans. The Committee alleges that Colonel Montex' rejected the idea of breaking through across the Vistula to liberated territory, or retiring west to join the fighting units in the enemy’s rear. The Committee adds that Polish units which refused to comply with the surrender order are fighting their way out from Warsaw. Some units have already reached Soviet positions on the east bank of the Vistula. The insurgent Polish right wing leaders in Warsaw are liquidating the uprising in the same way as they started it. They prefer to deliver the heroes of Warsaw to German hands to letting them join forces with the Red Army. The German News Agency reports that fighting in Warsaw has ended. The insurgents’ last centre of resistance, consisting of a large block of buildings reaching to the Vistula, surrendered unconditionally this morning.
