The Victory Loan Less Than £4,000,000 Required

(N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 3. Victory Loan subscriptions to date now total £36,205.829. an increase of £3,994,078 on last night’s figures. The objective percentages are: Southland 102 Auckland 98 Taranaki 83 Gisborne-East Coast 83 Otago 83 Marlborough 83 North Otago 82 Wellington 77 Northland 76 Nelson 76 Manawatu 75 Wanganui 75 Buller 75 Westland 71 Hawke’s Bay 70 South Canterbury 70 Waikato-King Country .... 66 Canterbury 65 Thames-Bay of Plenty 64 Wairarapa 64 The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) to-night made the following statement regarding the progress of the Victory Loan: “In thanking all organisations, companies, men and women who have so generously subscribed to the Victory Loan, I hope tomorrow night to be able to announce that the remaining £4,000,000 will have been over-subscribed. The thanks of all citizens are specially due to the loan committees, which have done such magnificent work, and it is our dutv to crown their achievement by a record result. An over-subscribed loan will stir the hearts of our servicemen on all battle fronts.” £233,828 SHORT South Canterbury Objective Yesterday £43,655 was invested in the Victory Loan by residents of South Canterbury, making a total of £523,072. To-day £233,828 will require to be invested if the target of £756,900 is to be reached.
