NEW YORK, October 1. , At least 500 persons were killed or drowned in the worst floods in Vera Cruz for 22 years. Reports from Mexico City state that at least 200,000 people are homeless.
Vera Cruz is isolated. A nearby town has been Inundated, and villages have been washed away.
The crops suffered heavily, 50,000 tons of grain and 200,000 tons of sugar having been lost, and tobacco, banana and pineapple plantations ruined.
