TROOPS ABROAD

Christmas Remittances (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. Arrangements similar to last year have been made for sending remittances to servicemen and servicewomen overseas for the Christmas and New Year period. The maximum amount that may be remitted overseas in any one year is £4O. The Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash), making the announcement, said that in view of the large number of remittances usually made for this purpose, he would urg"e that money be lodged at a bank before November 25. The remittance year for First and Second Echelon troops of the Second N.Z.E.F., said the Minister, commenced on June 1, and for all other personnel from the date of embarkation. For those who had again gone overseas the year commenced from the date of reembarkation
