Westport Resolution
(N.Z.P.A.) WESTPORT, Oct. 1. A resolution of no-confidence in the national executive of the A.S.R.S., including the general secretary, Mr L. Mcllvnde, was passed by a special meeting of members of the Westport branch of the A.J.R.S. to-day. The meeting further carried a resolution that Mr Mcllvride be called upon to resign and recontest his seat. It was also decided that a telegram be sent to the national secretary asking whether the Executive Council would press for an all-round increase in pay of 6d an hour when the tribunal sits in Wellington this month. Failing a guarantee that the executive will do this, further action will be taken. The attack made by the Hon. R. Semple on the secretary of the Canterbury branch of the Society iMr A. B. Grant) was deplored, it being claimed in a resolution that the secretary was only carrying out his duty as representative of the men. The action of the Canterbury branch was endorsed.
