Search For New Source Of Supply Sinking Of a Bore To Be Discussed Preliminary investigations for an improved source of water supply‘ the borough was made on Saturday when Mr J. M. Stewart, a mineral ana water prospector, visited Geraldine. In the morning, Mr Stewart made an inspection of the country with Lie chairman of the Water Committee (Mr Z. O. Sherratt) and the Mayor (Mr D. C. McKechnie), and later visited the reservoir and pumping shed. He met members of the Council at a meeting in the afternoon. The advisability of boring for water near the present pump house will be discussed at the next meeting of the Council. Rugby Geraldine beat Zingariby 13 points to 5 in a Rugby match played on Satuiday afternoon. For Geraldine. E. Leary scored two tries, which he also converted, and Ralph Gibson scored a try. Fitzgerald scored for Zmgarl and Goddard converted* Mr Hunt, of Timaru, was referee. As a result of a collection, patriotic funds will oenent by £2. Golf Miss K. Polhill beat Miss E. Clark in the final of the junior championship. Best scores in an eclectic competition .were: Mrs 3. M. Coxhead 42-10-32, Mrs L. Mann 44-12-32, Miss R. Williams 50-18-32, Mrs E. P. Bennett 48-12-36. Mrs L. E. Williams 54-18-36, Miss E. Undrill 54-18-36. A fourball resulted: W. H. Kirk and G. W. Curtis 3 up, E. P. Bennett and W. Hamilton 2 up. L. E. Williams and E. N. J. Hannah 1 up, R. Patrick and E. Scott all square. A knock-out competition resulted: First round: R. Patrick beat E. Scott, E. N. J. Hannah beat W. Webb, K. Lomax beat F. W. Bean, E. P. Bennett beat A. W. Morrison, J. Robertson beat A. L. Brenton, W. Hamilton beat G. Gilbert, W. H. Kirk and Mcllwrick had byes. Second round: Kirk beat Patrick, Hannah beat Lomax, Bennett beat Robertson and Hamilton beat Mcllwrick. Semi-final: Kirk beat Hannah, and Hamilton beat Bennett. The final will be played between Kirk and Hamilton. Guide Coming-of-age An impressive camp fire ceremony was held in a picturesque setting at the Geraldine traffic bridge on Saturday evening to commemorate the twentyfirst anniversary of the establishment of the Girl Guide movement in New Zealand. Guides, Rangers and Brownies took part in the ceremony, and Scouts and Cubs were also present in uniform. The ceremony was led by the Commissioner (Mrs C. C. Muscroft Taylor) assisted by Guides and Rangers. There was a good attendance of the public, including representatives of the Geraldine Borough and County Councils, the St. John Ambulance, the Red Cross and other organisations. A church parade was held at the Geraldine Presbyterian Church last evening, when a service of dedication was held.
