WAIMATE HOME SERVICEMEN
Badges Issued Financial members of the Home Servicemen's Association who had supplied their Army number to the secretary of the Waimate branch (Mr R. W. Maslin) received their badges at a recent meeting. Owing to the bad weather the attendance was not as good as expected; but new members were elected and an enthusiasm was shown by all which augurs well for the future of the Association in Waimate. Tire president (Mr N. L. Knell) welcomed the newly-elected members and urged all present to make a further drive to obtain personnel eligible for membership. Golf The only match played bv the Waimate Golf Club on Saturday was a semi-final of the fourball handicap knockout. With a strong and bitterly cold wind sweeping the links conditions were far from easy. Coming to the last hole G. Collett, and C. G. Holmes were one up on J. McAra and A. Gale Gale notched a good four to win the hole and square the match, which will now be replayed. Tire play-off to qualify for eighth place in the Hamilton Cup competition was postponed because of the weather conditions.
