MEAT RATIONING
Points to Remember Meat Rationing commences Monday next, March 6, 1944. The following points are important:— (1) You do NOT need to register with a retailer. Coupons may be redeemed with any butcher. (2) Collect your coupons from your Post Office or Local Rationing Office TO-DAY— don’t wait until the last minute. Paste vour coupons in your Ration Book and study them closely. (3) Coupons No. 19 will be used from Monday next. March 6. and will have a currency of two weeks. Coupons No. 20 from Monday, March 13. for two weeks. Coupons No. 21 from Monday. March 20. for two weeks, and so on. Coupon sheets are perforated and individual coupons may be detached by the consumer. Coupons may not be deposited with a butcher in advance of purchases except in the case of country deliveries, when it is permissible for one month’s coupons to be sent in at a time to the butcher.
(4) Change coupons are being provided by your butcher for use where the value of your purchase does not reach an even 3d. For example, your purchase, may amount to 1/2 —you give your butcher coupons to the value of 1/3 and he will give you one Id CHANGE COUPON which must be redeemed in the same shop. (5) If you are dining at a Restaurant, Hotel or Club dining-room, remember that each meat meal including couponed meat requires the surrender of one 3d coupon. And finally. remember this— BRITAIN ASKS FOR MORE MEAT.
