Colonel Beamish Wins Open Event (N.Z.P.A.) DUNEDIN, Jan. 12. The South Island croquet tournament. which is nearing completion, was continued to-day at the Watea and Leith lawns. In the final of the South Island Open Championship, Colonel Beamish (Christchurch) defeated Mrs Palmer (Christchurch), the scores being 23-26. 26-14. 26-17. Although not spectacular, croquet of a high standard was placed in the final of the Handicap Doubles which resulted in a win for Mesdames Grant and Middleton (Christchurch) against Mesdames Brown and Chambers (Christchurch! by 26 points to 16.
