Australian Production (Rec. 8 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 6. “Australia is now able to produce most of the modern types of heavy bomber, night bomber and fighter aircraft.” said the Minister for Aircraft Production (Mr G. Cameron). “The deadly Beaufighter will soon be rolling off the production lines in Australia, and several other new types of aircraft are in various stages of production. These will give a terrible shock to the Japanese.” The Minister said that more than 2500 aircraft had been manufactured in Australia since the outbreak of the war. and production would be speeded up considerably during 1944. More than 30 per cent, of the employees of the aircraft industry in Australia were women.
