WOMEN’S DIVISION

HOOK BRANCH Mrs D. Campbell presided over the August meeting of the Hook W.D.F.U. Letters of thanks for parcels were read from two men serving in the Forces. An invitation was received from the Hunter Institute to attend its birthday party. Competitions resulted as follows: Vase of flowers, Mrs Leathwick 1, Mrs Campbell 2, Mrs Macpherson 3; sewing, Mrs Campbell and Mrs Todd (equal) 1. The hostesses were Mrs A. R. Kingsbury and Mrs Rose. CLANDEBOYE BRANCH ’ At the monthly meeting of the Clandeboye W.D.F.U. Mrs Drake presided. . , . Leiters of thanks were received from Private Boocock and Flight Sergeant Staniland thanking members for parcels. It. was decided to vote £1 to the Leper Fund. A vote of thanks was passed Miss Bisdee for a donation of £3/10/3 for the soldier’s parcel fund. Mr S. Manning was the winner of a competition. Mr G. H. Mulligan gave a talk on chemical warfare, and the use and care of gas masks. A competition arranged by Miss Goodson “Queer Cats” was won by Mrs Adair. Competitions resulted as follows: Carrots: Miss Blsdie 1,2 and 3. Shortbread: Mrs Phiskie 1 and 2, Mrs Botting 3. Refooted stocking: Mrs Botting. The hostesses were Mesdames Dobson and Drake and Miss Goodson.
