Mr J. R. Riddle, who was in charge of the aerodrome construction unit recently demobilised, will next week resume his position of engineer in charge of the Highbank power scheme and Rangitata diversion race irrigation scheme.
Acting-Commander (E) O. John Gerard, R.N., husband of Mrs Gerard, of Wellington, superintendent of the Hospitality Bureau under the auspices of the American Red Cross, has been awarded the 0.8. E., states a supplement to the London Gazette of January 12. Commander Gerard has seen action in many dangerous waters and the ship in which he was serving was sunk during the North African operations. He is a brother of Bishop Gerard (prisoner of war in Italy). Mr G Gerard (serving in the Middle East)' and Lieutenant S. Gerard, missing since engaged in naval duties at Singapore, and is the third son of Mr G, Gerard, of Snowdon, Canterbury.
